Meet the founder of the project
BRIAN CLAY
Founder/CEO of The Piano Project of Knoxville
Brian was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Atlanta, but has made his home in Knoxville for nearly 10 years. He is an accomplished musician, a talented pianist and a veteran radio broadcaster. He is a strongly engaged advocate for the arts and works tirelessly to help create engagement in the community.
Brian was honored to receive the 2019 Martin Luther King Commemorative Commission of Knoxville Arts Award. He is a two-time Gospel Choice award winner (Best New Artist and Best Instrumental Artist). In 2018, Brian placed 5th in the "Lee Ritenour International Piano Competition." He is a major influencer in Knoxville's music scene performing in venues in Knoxville and across the southeast and he hosts a live music performance series that just completed its 7th year. In September of 2021, Brian was announced as the new coordinator of the ALIVE AFTER FIVE Arts and Music event that occurs monthly at the Knoxville Museum of Art.
